I had the opportunity to work with Territory Studio to produce a 45-second opening sequence for Sky Sports Super League. The process took many months, with each frame being digitally hand-painted.
I worked as a colour artist and special effects animator, and my responsibilities varied from adding shadows and rim lighting to creating abstract transformations (as can be seen 35 seconds in with the colours swirling into an eye).
The result is a highly stylised 2D cel animation that features a dynamic collage of all the Super League team mascots. Created to tell the story of the battle for the championship, the title sequence conveys the energy, drama and passion of the sport.
